This is called Sleepwake. In this video short, an ancestral spirit receives prayers from a child to deliver them to the Spirits Who Answer Prayers. In the video, the spirit is trying to make sure it remembers: "Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake. I pray the Lord my soul to take."
Angels in Straight Jackets, Exalted On the Ward, is about an African American Woman institutionalized at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia. Excerpts of patient experiences at CSH are explored in this soundscape.
Lament for the Dead is an online community poetry project, which marked the death of every person killed by police during the summer of 2015, and every police officer who lost his life in the line of duty with a poem. "Death By Brisket", (read by me) was my contribution to the project.
